I feel at a total loss to even try and explain how I feel at the passing of our beloved Prophet. My kids know about other prophets... but they didn't know any other prophets. President Hinckley was so adept at coming right into your heart. Kierstin and I met him once... completely by chance.
We were visiting Gram and many of the other Leavitt's up at Eagle Gate apartments during Christmas time... either '96 or '97 I think. We had just left Grams to head home to Provo when President and Sister Hinckley emerged into the hallway just ahead of us. They had been attending a ward Christmas party in the common room of the building. The Spirit was so strong that I instinctively removed my hat.
President Hinckley, noticing us there, turned to us and shook our hands saying "It is wonderful to see you". It was a very brief occurence... but the feeling stuck with us. We bring it up every once in a while and the Spirit always confirms the testimony we have that Heavenly Father loves us and blesses us with constant guidance through the leaders of our church.
I am sad to lose President Hinckley here in this life... but I rejoice with all those who were awaiting his return. We thank Thee, O God, for our prophet Gordon B Hinckley... and for the prophets and apostles to come... and for the constant reminder that they bring of Thy love and care for us.
